Pedigree Abbreviations &
Other Acronyms
|
This is not an all-inclusive list,
some are breed specific.
Only titles issued by the AKC appear on
an AKC certified pedigree. The breed-specific titles such as GV or
ROM do not appear on an AKC certified pedigree. Breed-specific titles
are only recognized by the parent club of that breed even though these
titles are have significant historical importance to that particular breed.
OFA certifications and CERF issued in the
last few years do appear on an AKC certified pedigree. Beginning
in the last year, they appear only if the dog had permanent identification
at the time of testing. Permanent identification would be considered
a tattoo using a unique number or a microchip. Permanent Identification
is indicating as part of the OFA number by a "PI" following the OFA number. |
